Add Metadata

The Metadata Template page allows you to choose a metadata template with pre-determined required fields that match best with your workflow. You can reach this page by selecting 'Add Metadata' in the 'Manage' Modal after an upload.


Workflow Templates

There are different templates you can choose from to enter metadata. The "All Metadata" Template does not have any required fields while the other templates each have specific metadata requirements.

Metadata Templates and their Requirements

    All Metadata: No required fields. 
    Crackle Content Operations: Asset Type, Title, Classification, Status
    Asset Management: Asset Type, Title, Classification, Status
    EMEA TV Productions: Asset Type, Title, Classification, Status
    Media Relations: Asset Type, Title, Classification, Status, Usage Restrictions
    SPT Non-title Off-air: Asset Type, Classification, Status
    SPT Photo: Title, Classification


In the following example, we will walk through editing metadata with the "All Metadata" Template.

Step 1

Select the "All Metadata" Template from the Metadata Template page. This template does not have any required fields.

Step 2

The Metadata tagging page will open. Here you will find all metadata fields.

You can edit all assets at once or separately. Use theBubble empty 2.pngicon to select the assets you would like to edit. TheBubble checked 2.pngicon indicates a successful selection.

Pencil.jpg Note: If a metadata template has required fields, the fields' names would be highlighted in the Runner coral.

Step 3

Open the 'Asset Type' dropdown menu to select the asset type.

Repeat the process for 'Asset sub-type' if applicable.

Step 4

To tag the assets with a title(s) begin by typing the title in the search box, a list of results will drop down. Select the title to apply it.

If you wish to add specific restrictions and limitations of assets, you can do so in the 'Usage Restriction' field.

Step 5

To view the title's details, click on the corresponding Info.png icon

Step 6

A modal will appear with information on the title.

Step 7

Fill in the other fields as needed.

Pencil.jpg Note: The 'Asset Owner' field is to identify the team who owns the asset. Contact Runner_Help@spe.sony.com if your team is not on the list.

Once you have finished adding metadata, click 'Apply' to tag the assets with the specified metadata.

Step 8

Fill in the other fields as needed. Once you have finished adding metadata, click 'Apply' to tag the assets with the specified metadata.


Edit Metadata

Metadata can be edited on a specific asset in the respective asset's details page.

Step 1

Navigate to the asset's detail page and use the Context menu.png icon to select 'Edit Metadata'.

Step 2

Select the metadata template you would like to use while editing.

Step 3

Scroll down or click the 'Metadata' tab below the previewer. All fields in the chosen template should now be editable.

Step 4

Once you have made all changes you would like to make, click 'Apply' at the bottom right corner and your changes will be saved.


Batch Metadata Update in the Cart

Step 1

Select the assets you would like to update and then use the Add to cart.png icon to add selected assets to the cart.

Select ‘Edit Metadata’ from the Context menu.png icon.

At the Metadata Template page, select the Metadata template you would like to use.

Step 4

The Metadata tagging page will open. Here you will find all metadata fields.

Step 5

Once you have finished updating metadata, click 'Apply' to confirm your tag of the assets with the specified metadata.


A confirmation modal will flash to confirm your metadata changes have been applied.


Click ‘Done’ to close out of the metadata update page. If you wish to select more assets to batch metadata change again, you may repeat the above steps.


Favorite Templates

Favorite templates allows you to select a metadata template to dock at the top of the metadata management page. Runner will remember your favorite template(s) until you unfavorite them. This is particularly useful for when you need quick access to a frequently used metadata template.


Select Favorite Templates

Step 1

Select the metadata template you would like to favorite by clicking Favoritestar.png in the upper right corner.

You can do this for multiple templates.

Step 2

A flash will confirm that the template was made a favorite template and it will appear at the top of the page.

Step 3

Success! Runner will remember your favorite template until you choose to unfavorite it.

Step 1

Select which favorite template you would like to remove by clicking Favoritestar2.png in the upper right corner.

You can do this for multiple templates.

A flash will indicate that the template was unfavorited.
